Keys Trip

Like last year, we are planning another trip to the Florida Keys. This year we will be staying at the Boy Scout Camp in Islamorada, we will be looking to do some snorkeling amongst the fish at some coral reefs AND we plan to go to the Dry Tortugas.

Also, I am exploring creating a Scout Troop for the Blades, as the Scouts have some AMAZING sailing opportunities!  Including getting your scuba license, sailing to the Bahamas, etc.

The date range we are looking at somewhere within these dates:

August 9-24.  We will be driving down.  We will need a female chaperone.  There is a chance my wife could go if needed.

Here are some links to see what we are doing:

Camp Sawyer (Scout Camp)
Scouting Sea Adventures

Sea Base Scouting Video

Troop 172 Sailing

Troop 701 (Bahamas)

The Dry Tortugas

The Dry Tortugas (Pt. 2)

The Dry Tortugas (Pt. 3)

As a reminder.  We are NOT doing any Scouting things this time down.  I am investigating if creating a Scout Troop will open up opportunities for us.

We WILL be staying at Camp Sawyer, which is a Scout campsite, that rents out to others outside of Scouting.

Besides myself, we will need 1 female chaperone.  We cannot take more than eight people total.  If we have room, an extra chaperone could go.

Costs will be limited and will include money for some eating out and money for souvenirs.
